The Department’s teaching staff are specialised in diverse branches of Translation and Interpreting Studies. With national and international publications to their name, they sit on the editorial boards of leading journals and are asked to serve on examining committees abroad. Members of the Department lead national and international research projects on translation and interpreting, which are supported by institutions such as Jean Monnet, the European Union, TÜBİTAK, and Boğaziçi University’s own Scientific Research Projects fund. The Department’s interpreting classes are taught by professional conference interpreters who belong to the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) and the Association of Turkish Conference Interpreters (TKTD) and who have also gained accreditation from international bodies such as the European Institutions and the Council of Europe. Members of the Department have also served as examiners for the European Union’s conference interpreting accreditation exams and have provided theoretical and practical training for international organisations such as AIIC and various EU organisations, as well as for foreign universities.
